n'-to-Die is the second studio album by the influential San Francisco psychedelic rock band, Country Joe and the Fish, released in 1967. Recordings took place in Vanguard studios in 71 West 23rd Street, New York City. The title track remains one of the most popular Vietnam protest songs from the 1960s and originally appeared on a 1965 7" EP titled Rag Baby: Songs of Opposition.

Country Joe & the Fish Yeah, come on all of you, big strong men, Uncle Sam needs your help again. There's plenty good money to be made By supplying the Army with the tools of the trade, Just hope and pray that if they drop the bomb, They drop it on the Viet Cong. And it's one, two, three, What are we fighting for ? Don't ask me, I don't give a damn, Next stop is Vietnam. And it's five, six, seven, Open up the pearly gates, Well there ain't no time to wonder why Whoopee! we're all gonna die. Well, come on mothers throughout the land, Pack your boys off to Vietnam. Come on fathers, don't hesitate, Send 'em off before it's too late. Жанна Агузарова в гостях у Ивана Урганта.

The first three Country Joe & the Fish albums all have distinct qualities. Electric Music For The Mind And Body was the band’s pioneering metaphysical debut. Their third album, Together, featured a democratically inclined potpourri of styles. In-between came I-Feel-Like-I’m-Fixin’-To-Die, a textbook example of how artist and producer can overcome a perceived shortage of material to create something of lasting value. Ironically, for a group with roots in the folk idiom, there were no acoustic guitars on Electric Music. Its sequel introduced these in a necessary fashion.

But the reason it was already well-known by the time of the Woodstock festival is that the song had already appeared as the lead track on Country Joe & The Fish’s second album (titled I-Feel-Like-I’m-Fixin’-to-Die) in November 1967, so it was already ingrained in the counterculture. The song itself dates back a couple of years before that, when McDonald was playing folk music around Berkeley, Calif. as part of the Berkeley String Quartet and a loose aggregation called the Instant Action Jug Band.
