On 1995's Tomorrow the Green Grass, the Jayhawks found themselves in the tricky situation of trying to match the quality of Hollywood Town Hall without simply repeating themselves, and they came remarkably close to achieving that daunting task.

Disc 1 features the original tracklisting with 5 additional bonus tracks including non-album b-sides and previously unreleased tracks. Disc 2, The Mystery Demos, features 18 tracks recorded by Olson and Louris in 1992, all previously unreleased and the the ultimate treasure for collectors and aficionados. I bought this Jayhawks album without ever hearing their music before. I had heard that the band had a country feel. in a raw, garage band sort of sound with edgy harmonies but from the second on, I am hooked. Tomorrow The Green Grass is a wonderful album.

Album · 1995 · 13 Songs. After the moderate success of Hollywood Town Hall, Tomorrow the Green Grass extended that album’s feel for classic rock and country-rock with a touch of orchestration, especially noted on the remarkable single Blue. New keyboardist Karen Grotberg gave the band an extra musical foil, but once again it's the harmonies of Gary Louris and Mark Olson that turn solid compositions into heartfelt elegies and campfire-worthy modern folk songs. Even Grand Funk Railroad's "Bad Time" is transformed into a joyous Jayhawks celebration, despite the tenor of the lyrics.
