Kill The Lights’ is the first album project on Houndstooth, and is a masterpiece in genre-weaving, tied together by poignant emotional and effortless force. Names’ featuring Leni Ward and ‘Shot You Down’, co-written by Alpines’ Catherine Pockson, pack a softer punch; heavy on the intricate production but lighter on the dark atmospherics. released May 6, 2013.

House of Black Lanterns delivers a defined change in vision and style with the material already receiving widespread support. The debut album 'Kill The Lights' on Fabric's imprint 'Houndstooth' retains the earlier influence of DJ Krust’s sprawling drum & bass soundscapes, House of Black Lanterns sees Richards develop his sound to incorporate the dub-inflected techno textures of Rhythm & Sound whilst nodding to the catchy, yet bleak floorfillers of Trax, all inspired by the modern noir visual style of Michael Mann

Switching stance from his bass-weighted mutant stepping as King Cannibal, Dylan Richards is now developing his own murky foray into 4/4 steeped in dread-filled atmospherics and plush sound design under the House Of Black Lanterns banner.

House of Black Lanterns is the fresh moniker of Dylan Richards, aka King Cannibal, and although he has retained certain elements of his previous guise, for the most part Kill The Lights is a refreshing new direction for the producer. The grubby fingerprints of his beloved drum & bass are still present throughout, but Kill The Lights is far from a drum & bass record, instead focusing on doom-laden, corrosive 4/4 and pounding footwork  . Kill the House Lights is a compilation album by New Jersey rock group Thursday. The name of the record derives from a lyric from the song "M. Shepard" from the band's 2003 album War All the Time. The CD features five new songs, two live recordings, a couple of outtakes, and three demos. The DVD features interviews and a concert, which was filmed on December 27, 2006, at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey. They recorded their smaller show at Maxwell's in Hoboken, NJ the next day.

Talk about House Of Black Lanterns - Kill The Lights

Mitynarit
Former Ninja Tune artist Dylan Richards sheds his King Cannibal guise and moves into the House of Black Lanterns for his debut, KILL THE LIGHTS, on Houndstooth, bringing with him some dark-pitched techno. The ominous strains and growling vocals of "Beg" portend the thrumming outer space trip of "Broken," while the sweet vocals atop "Shot You Down" belie the dark churning underneath -- a mix that will work again later in "Names." "Truth & Loss" return the mood back out of the stratosphere, and "I'll Wait For You" slows things down for a creepy experience. A touch of dub techno creeps into "Never Sleep Again," both in the lyrics and the tonal quality, while the brisk "You, Me, Metropolis" brings a stronger melodic leaning into its nervous twitching. The softer "Pale December" adds to the sonic palette before the paranoid groove of "The Walls are Closing In" take the album out. Consider the lights officially dead!
