Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is the eighth studio album by the English rock band the Beatles
Then, ‘Lonely Hearts Club’, that’s a good one. There’s lot of those about, the equivalent of a dating agency now. I just strung those together rather in the way that you might string together Dr Hook and the Medicine Show. All that culture of the sixties going back to those travelling medicine men, Gypsies, it echoed back to the previous century really. I just fantasised, well, ‘Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’. That’d be crazy enough because why would a Lonely Hearts Club have a band? If it had been Sergeant Pepper’s British Legion Band, that’s more understandable
Штрих-код и другие идентификаторы. Matrix, Runout (A-side label matrix): XE. 37. Peppers falls kind of flat for me is that the beginning two tracks (Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, With A Little Help From My Friends) set the album up like a concept album but that just totally disappears and pops up at the end of the album. But, even disregarding that fact, there are only a few enjoyable songs for me on this album which are 'Within You Without You', 'Lovely Rita' and 'A Day In The Life'.
Released on 1st June, 1967, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, the band's eighth album became the soundtrack to the "summer of love" but its appeal is timeless. Work had begun on the recording in late 1966 and at one stage it was thought that both Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields Forever would also be included but when these were released as a single in February, that idea was abandoned. Revolver had only just been completed in time prior to the band flying off on yet another tour. Now that touring was behind them more time could be spent writing and recording.

The Beatles’ songs – complete A-Z list! Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Written by: Lennon-McCartney Recorded: 1, 2 February; 3, 6 March 1967 Producer: George Martin Engineer: Geoff Emerick. Released: 1 June 1967 (UK), 2 June 1967 (US). On The Beatles' final US tour in 1966, Paul McCartney was struck by the inventiveness of the West Coast hippy groups, with names such as Quicksilver Messenger Service, Jefferson Airplane, and Big Brother and the Holding Company. In November that year, on a post-holiday flight from Nairobi to England, he came up with the idea of an alter-ego for the band, which would perform an entire album before an audience. Sgt Pepper is Paul, after a trip to America and the whole West Coast, long-named group thing was coming in.
