The social dissatisfaction expressed by Black Dog in last year's Further Vexations continues with Music for Real Airports, a concept album exploring the dichotomy between the reality of airports and their ideal: Places of numbness and vacancy as opposed to futuristic gateways to the world.
Exzellentes Ambientalbum von The Black Dog als Antwort auf Brian Enos Music For Airports< Serie aus den 70er Jahren. Entstanden aus 200 Stunden Field Recordings<, live aufgenommen an Flughäfen, und ausproduziert während zahlloser Wartestunden. The Black Dog is a British electronic music group, founded by Ken Downie along with Ed Handley and Andy Turner. The group are considered pioneers who, along with acts like Autechre, Aphex Twin, µ-ziq and LFO, came to define the UK techno movement in the early 1990s. In 1989, The Black Dog was unable to find a label to back its releases and started its own, Black Dog Productions, which released four vinyl records.
Unlike Eno's Music for Airports, this is not a record to be used by airport authorities to lull their customers. The album is a bittersweet, enveloping and enormously engaging listen. It is ambient, but focused. This is not sonic mush, nor adolescent noise. Nor is it a dance album. Much of the raw material of the album was made in airports over the last three years.
