Van Morrison has announced his new album, The Prophet Speaks. His 40th studio album is set for release on December 7th via Caroline International. On his new effort, Morrison offers six new originals alongside his reinterpretations of classics. Sam Cooke’s Laughin’ and Clownin’, John Lee Hooker’s Dimples, Solomon Burke’s Gotta Get You Off My Mind and Willie Dixon’s I Love the Life I Live are among the eight songs he covers. The pair team up again for The Prophet Speaks. It also features Morrison’s band, which includes guitarist Dan Wilson, drummer Michael Ode and tenor saxophonist Troy Roberts. In 2017, he released the blues-focused Roll With the Punches and jazz-based Versatile. The Prophet Speaks Track List.

Praise for Roll With The Punches Proof that, at 71, Morrison can still perform with gusto Mojo His 37th album brings an intimate, ad-libbed feel to standards by Bo Diddley, Lightnin’ Hopkins and Fifties R&B queen Ruth Brown, The Mail ★★★★ Joyous Uncut Knockout, The Mirror ★★★★. On The Prophet Speaks, Morrison sounds as lively, vivacious and committed as any time in his career. He’s positively giddy when slinging out these eight covers and six originals accompanied by the same band from his previous disc. The originals may not be future classics or hold a candle to Into the Mystic or Moondance (although the walking bass of 5AM Greenwich Mean Time borrows a similar jazzy vibe), but in this set songs such as the Sam Cooke-influenced Spirit Will Provide and the Bobby Blue Bland-inspired soul/blues of Got to Go Where the Love.

No doubt about it: Van Morrison ’s on a roll. Following a spate of recent albums released this year and last- Roll With the Punches, Versatile and You’re Driving Me Crazy, the latter of which was released barely seven months ago-Van the Man has been revisiting his roots with set after set of jumping jazz, blustery blues and classic R&B standards. Yet, the question i. hy does he continue to plod such well trod terrain? There’s no denying Morrison’s devotion to the form.

Talk about Van Morrison - The Prophet Speaks

Narim
This is often the case: the worse the cover, the better the music. For example. one of the worst covers - Poсo-Poсo (1970) - this one is the coolest album of the best era of country-rock. Love this Van.
Keath
This vinyl pressing sounds amazing. It's been hard to digest everything Van has been putting out lately, but this is one of my favorite recent releases despite the weird album artwork.
Xaluenk
I second this.Although, considering the lyrics of track 1, the cover is appropriate.I also like to think of Van The Man telling the POTUS to STFU when I look at the cover.Haha!
DrayLOVE
These credits are as stated on the credits section. Also the ones on scan#3.
Lesesshe
Can we have the 2nd scan/image (with the credits on each track) in bigger size? Thanks.
Ygglune
no seriously the fuck is the deal with that cover
Nidor
George Harrison did the same kind of thing for the reissue of All Things Must Pass. Also see Brainwashed. Unsure if either are directly Harrisons doing, as he was gone by then. I would imagine it is making reference to the fact that as an artist their place is well established. And as such they can do whatever they please without direction from record labels and other forms of management. No longer puppets in someone elses game.
