The discography of The Stooges - a Detroit, Michigan based rock band founded by "The Godfather of Punk Music" Iggy Pop as singer, Ron Asheton as guitarist, Dave Alexander as bass-guitarist and Scott Asheton as drummer - currently consists of five studio albums, twenty-four singles, four live albums, and three box sets. The Stooges debut album The Stooges was released on August 5, 1969 in the United States, and one month later in the United Kingdom

The Stooges is the debut studio album by American rock band The Stooges. The five songs were staples-and essentially the basis-of the Stooges' live set at the time. A typical Stooges song of the period would involve two minutes of composed song followed by several minutes of improvisation. Having assumed that the five songs as normally performed would cover requirements for the album, the Stooges were told by their record label

While the Stooges had a few obvious points of influence - the swagger of the early Rolling Stones, the horny pound of the Troggs, the fuzztone sneer of a thousand teenage garage bands, and the Velvet Underground's experimental eagerness to leap into the void - they didn't really sound like anyone else around when their first album hit the.

The Stooges' 1969 self-titled debut album opened the door for everything loud, hard and heavy that followed. These four misfits from Detroit took rock to the edge, pushing the boundaries with every note. Singer Iggy Pop (then going as Iggy Stooge) was joined by Dave Alexander on bass, Ron Ashton on guitar and his brother Scott Ashton on drums – creating a mayhem all of their own, and a style that would be copied for decades to come
