The daughter of ECM jazz saxophone legend Jan Garbarek, Anja has moved far from the distorted soundscapes of her debut, the elegantly weird Balloon Mood from 1996. Here she employs the talents and tactics of musicians such as Mark Hollis (formerly of Talk Talk), Richard Barbieri and Steve Jansen from Japan and Rain Tree Crow, respectively, and the production savvy of Steve Wilson from Porcupine Tree.

Anja Garbarek (born 24 July 1970 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter of mixed Norwegian and Polish descent. She was raised in Oslo, Norway. Garbarek's debut album, Velkommen Inn (1992), is sung in Norwegian. She subsequently released three original albums containing English lyrics: Balloon Mood (1996), Smiling and Waving (co-produced by Steven Wilson; 2001), and Briefly Shaking (2006).

Anja, the Daughter of jazz saxophonist Jan Garbarek, with Steven Wilson and Robert Wyatt, and all together on one album should make for something interesting and certainly enough it does. Steven does production for the album and plays various instruments on various tracks but not the track with Robert Wyatt. Robert only provides vocals for one song, The Diver.
