Weezer (commonly known as the Blue Album) is the debut studio album by American rock band Weezer, released on May 10, 1994 by DGC Records. It was produced by Cars frontman Ric Ocasek and recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York City from August to September 1993. Founding guitarist Jason Cropper left during the recording, replaced by Brian Bell. The album reached number sixteen on the US Billboard 200, and was certified triple platinum.

So, this time we have Weezer. Not even much time has passed since the time of their previous compilation of covers in the Teal album, as the guys finally produced the long-awaited real album with the original tracks. I absolutely do not have the slightest understanding of what the fans expected from the album, because there wouldn’t be much to expect from mainstream music, but the current Black album pleasantly entertained me and left a pleasant aftertaste, which is already quite good for me personally.

Weezer have a habit of naming their album Weezer. Out of their ten studio albums, they’ve done this four times, hence this is alternatively titled The White Album. It was highly anticipated, and didn’t disappoint, with the singles Thank God For Girls, Do You Wanna Get High? and King Of The World propelling the album to number 4 in the US. It sold 49k first week. The album was positioned as a beach record, and lead man Rivers Cuomo said much of the lyrics refer to his life living in Los Angeles, and spending time on the beach

Weezer ‘Blue’ (1994). A superior debut offering by anyone’s standards. This one did wonders for all of us who were far too uncool to ever truly fit in with the metal kids, the punk kids, or the t-any-given-moment kids.
