All in all, Jar of Flies has seven very solid songs at worst. At best, a masterpiece of the 90’s but I think a classic Alice In Chains album is more realistic. Unlike so many great metal and rock bands, AIC completely mellowed their sound from their earlier work on their two eps, Jar of Flies and Sap, and completely make it work. They did two amazing things.

Talk about Alice In Chains - Jar Of Flies / Sap

Marige
Perfect pressing! No surface noise at all! I highly recommend
Obong
Sounds amazing! Clean flat pressing. Dynamic and nice sound stage. MOV did a great job!
FreandlyMan
Nice pressing and the SAP album seems to sound even better than Jar of Flies.
Mazuzahn
Thanks Music On Vinyl for a typically great quality pressing and higher than average quality cover. They never cease to impress me. And what an album, the first track has one of the all time greatest guitar solos ever, the first 3 tracks are simply genius. The whole album is a work of art. Has a place in anyones collection.

Sounds great! So happy to have this on vinyl! Love this!

Man I got totally stiffed when I bought this. Had no idea this was released. Bought it for $45 at a shop. That hurts.
Akisame
Bought the 2010 MOV reissue on vinyl after seeing the good reviews. Covers are cd art blown up. The sound quality is very good clear with no distortion. Records have no surface noise. MOV did a great job with this!
Flamehammer
Very happy with this set of EPs. Yes, SAP could've been split to two sides but it sounds great anyway and the etching on side 2 of that record is a cool touch. The gatefold sleeve and inners are thick, sturdy and glossy. The vinyl is glossy and quiet (I wasn't sure the stylus had touched down when the first track began) and even the labels are well finished. So overall, a high quality re-issue that i'm very pleased i bought and would recommend. I paid more than the average album price $51NZ (about $38US) but i'm happy.
Oveley
Why didn't they split SAP over two sides of the second record rather than waste the fourth side? Doesn't make sense to me...
Morlurne
Sound is good but unlike many of my favorite records I don't usually reach for the vinyl over the CD. I still vividly remember when Jar of Flies came out and the awe I felt for the dynamics that the CD allowed. Right away with "Rotten Apple," it's so exquisitely produced and engineered... the bass, guitar effects, percussion, Layne's haunting vocals... it all resonated so deeply partially because the dynamic range of the CD. The vinyl is well done though and definitely has its moments on both Jar of Flies and Sap. One other thing to note is the artwork. They are scans blown up from the CD. Jar of Flies is very pixelated. Besides that it's a good package and the etching on Sap is awesome.
Hra
I wasn't trying to get into the loudness war here but decibels certainly are involved. The dynamic range of vinyl can never technically exceed CD, by any serious method of measurement. Our preference for what sounds better depends on other technical factors too many to get into here, the studio production, and our subjective perception. In this case, I stated my atypical preference for CD over vinyl due to "the dynamics that the CD allowed." Perhaps I like feeling that AIC just cranked up their amps in my living room. I recommend it.
Lanionge
Precisely. In fact, being louder usually means worse dynamics. If the vinyl version sounds the same as the Cd, It was probably made from the digital source, so it's the same thing as the art cover: the Cd sound blown up.
Peras
Vinyl has better dynamics over CDs 99% of the time. CD's are generally "louder", but that doesn't equate to better dynamics.

I have this MOV version and it sounds excellent! I was also very pleased that the Sap EP is included. They really did this album justice. If you are a huge fan like I am then this is worth the money. Jar of Flies is a short album, but when you throw Sap in too, you get a decent length album. Every song on these albums ate excellent, and Whale and Wasp sounds freaking amazing.
Shadowredeemer
This is how a reissue should be done. The packaging, artwork and vinyl are all very high quality. It's worth every penny! Now if only Music On Vinyl would reissue Alice In Chains (1995) then everyone would be so happy!
GAMER
I'd look forward to that and Facelift!
Vijora
Really enjoying this one. As some say, they're expensive but the quality is great. No compression or audible distortion
Livina
These music on vinyl pressings are a tad bit overpriced most places in the states but they tend to sound pretty good, though the high end was a little tinny on some tracks so I turned my treble down a bit and it was fine. I've never heard another pressing of these releases but I thought they sounded nice. Packaging has a nice gloss to it as well.
