Some Time in New York City is a studio album by John Lennon & Yoko Ono and Elephant's Memory, and paired with the live album Live Jam as a double album. Released in 1972, it is Lennon's third post-Beatles solo album, fourth with Ono, and third with producer Phil Spector. Some Time in New York City fared poorly critically and commercially compared to Lennon's previous two albums, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine.

But here Lennon and Yoko, accompanied by New York's Elephant's Memory, sing and scream freely against sexism in "Woman Is the Nigger Of The World" and "Sisters, O Sisters. They protest incarceration in "John Sinclair," "Attica State," and "Born In A Prison," colonialism in "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and "The Luck Of The Irish," and racism in "Angela. The richness of Phil Spector's production fills out the danceable grooves on nearly every track. SOMETIME IN NEW YORK CITY is some of the groovin'-est, most tuneful agit-prop ever committed to disc.

Some of Yoko's best work can be found on "Approximately Infinite Universe" or "Season of Glass," the album released shortly after the death of John. 2 people found this helpful.

The half studio half live album cover was packaged like a newspaper of the events covered in the album. The cover was highlighted by a poster Yoko Ono had made of then United States President Richard Nixon and China’s communist dictator Chairman Mao Zedong dancing together in the nude. Here’s a blown up version of Yoko’s poste. any distributors against the wishes of Lennon and Ono added a non-removable gold sticker that said TWO RECORD SET to obscure the photo. Check it ou. ere’s what Lennon had to say about the sticker in an interview in 1980.
