The The. Soul Mining (Cass, Album). I believe some souls are bonanzas of joy but Matt Johnson has found in his soul the lode of anguish and started mining it. "You're lying on your bed and making shadows on the wall, it's almost too hot to move. Outside your window people are driving home from work for the weekend but your waiting for the phone to ring you’re going to tell her exactly what you think. Soul Mining is a fine collection of the musings in the twilight hour and after. Responder Notifique-me Helpful.
Soul Mining is the debut album by The The. The album was released in the UK on 21 October 1983 and included versions of the singles Uncertain Smile, Perfect and This Is the Day. The album version of Uncertain smile replaces the saxo of the 12" single for a piano solo courtesy of Jools Holland. Soul Mining Q&A.
The The's first album dropped out of sight after its release in 1983 but was later acclaimed as a masterpiece. This reissue is richly deserved. That was nearly a decade ago, and since then Soul Mining appears to have dropped even further out of public view and off the critical radar. Perhaps that's because Johnson keeps a such a low profile these days: since a show at the Meltdown festival in London in 2002, the The's only new releases have been film soundtracks and a solitary song, Mrs Mac, released online in 2007. No one in 2014 seems to mention the The as an influence
