It's this version that . collectors were more likely to find in their local import bins, so some may be surprised to find that they've in effect been shortchanged by half.

One person found this helpful. Audentity is one-of-a-kind in the extensive Klaus Schulze canon. For the uninitiated I would definitely start elsewhere, but for the adventurous you will be richly rewarded. 7 people found this helpful.

Audentity" is a double album released by Klaus in 1983. It's not a concept album as some think but a collection of pieces that aren't related. Some guests here on keyboards and cello while Michael Shrieve (SANTANA) adds some percussion. Cellistica" is a great way to start with those sounds that come and go. It's louder 2 minutes in. An electronic beat before 3 minutes and some cello too. Drums before 4 1/2 minutes. Audentity is an unusual Schulze album that you should not skip as a fan. Together with the preceding Dig It and Trancefer, it's one of his best albums of the 80's. With "Dune" I concluded that 80's work of Klaus Schulze might be worth listening to.

Talk about Klaus Schulze - Audentity

I think I might have enjoyed the shorter tracks more had they been left where they were initially placed. Packed at the beginning of disc two I found little enjoyment out of them, however it leaves disc one with only three amazing longer pieces, growing increasingly rhythmic and bizarre. The fifty minutes bonus track, aptly named Gem, is a great addition to this album and in my opinion would have been deserving of its own stand alone release, it's that good. For owners of older releases obtaining a repress with this track is worth thinking about.

Probably from 1987 or 1988. See http://www.muziekweb.nl/Link/JKX0053

Must be something wrong with the release year. I really doubt that CDs were made in Europe as early as 1983. Possibly in Japan maybe.

Polygram - The first CD pressing plant in West Germany was owned by Polygram Records. This plant, which opened in August 1982, was located in Hannover, West Germany.See notes. This CD also looks very rough and raw.

Watch out! There exists a faulty pressing of this release with horrible distortion/clipping in most of the tracks. It's infinitely worse than the bad Revisited pressing of Mirage which is more common and discussed more often. My faulty copy has the ridge-grooves-vinyl effect on the CDs. It has the following code on the inner ring of the playside: 51517314/304132-1 21. If anyone can confirm/dispute the fault and/or the code please contact me. If anyone knows how to get this fixed please contact me. Revisited told me they don't handle KS anymore and SPV DE won't reply to me. Shame on Revisited for doing it *again* with Audentity! Didn't they learn their lesson with Mirage?

As a follow-up, I finally did get my broken Audentity copy replaced with a good copy. KDM himself answered my emails and sent me a good copy. He was eager to get his hands on the bad copy. I guess SPV did some iffy things at times with these represses. Thanks KDM! (And sorry for the delays...)

The code on my copy is 51562035/304132-11 22 on first CD and 51517311/304132-2 21 on second CD and both play without such flaws and in fact perfect.I guess they did a second pressing like they did with Mirage.I remember I ordered my SPV copy of Audentity to my then usual shop as soon as it was officially released like I did with many others but surprisingly this one took months to come to the shop(only case).I don't know if that fact has any relation with this problem, maybe they realised the first pressing was faulty and they stopped distribution until a second pressing was done but in spite or that some few copies of the first pressing were distributed(?).I'm just speculating,I never heard before of that problem with Audentity,I just knew about Mirage(self experience)
