Amok is the third album by the Finnish metal band Sentenced. The album was released through Century Media Records in 1995. Though still mostly rooted in the death metal genre, this album takes the melodic death metal direction of 1993's North from Here a step further with elements of traditional heavy metal and doom metal, along with elements of the goth rock-inspired style that the band would take on with subsequent releases, following bassist/vocalist Taneli Jarva's departure.

Complete and absolute Tremora Del Terrarip off, but hey whatever.

I remember hearing this at a rave somewhere on Salisbury plains. That was 20 years ago but I remebercthis moment literally like it was yesterday. It smashed the place with the uplifting and melodic hook. Tracked it down the week afters in Zoom recs in Camden and bought two copies. Thanks once again to Jens and Ramon.

Amok wasn't a particularly great track, Koma is the pick here and worth buying for that tune alone, the intro starts with a repetitive single bass note & a sound like water drops, a faded in synth is used to bring in the 44/ kicks and slowly builds up to a very nice uplifting melody at 1.46, yes it is uplifting but the melody is all it's own, it is so distinctly Koma that you could never mistake it for another tune unlike the formula driven pseudo trance that became popular around 98/99 when every one decided that tiesto was great trance music, but these were the days when trance could be uplifting without being cheesy, there is also a constant siren type sound that never fails to give me goosebumps even now when i listen to it all these years later, this tune never feels mainstream at all and has a kind of dark undertone to it which for me encapsulates the early rave scene very well.it is very well executed track, i remember this tune being played as the very last tune of the night at rave way back in 1994, fuck is that long ago!! kind of depressing really when one thinks about, especially considering the rave scene is all but a corpse awaiting burial now!!!

Agree that Koma was the star of the show here. I once witnessed the corridors at a Rave venue just simply empty into the main room when this came on - so instantly recognisable. But where can you go to hear music like this today? Nowhere sadly. Any kind of trance event is dominated by EDM, while the great trance DJs from the past have been strong-armed into playing high-BPM, borderline hard-house garbage. What a shame.
