The production is clearer without ever losing the group's signature warmth or becoming sharp. With the exception of two shorter interludes bookending the album, Lucifer is made up of six songs, all averaging about six and a half minutes in length. The songs stretch out liberally, oftentimes getting lost in the folds of an endlessly repeated phrase, eventually finding the path again through various waves of delay, analog synth tones, and the occasional flute.

Peaking Lights went on to release a third album, Lucifer, in 2012. Stand-out track, Dream Beat, was another mini-hit for the band with a very cool video directed by Jordan Radaelli and Jason Miller as part of the Urban Outfitters video series. Lucifer was also re-recorded as a dub step album later in 2012. Previous articleComedy Store Players, London.

The rippling highlight of Peaking Lights' album 936, this track finds Aaron Coyes and Indra Dunis in full-on devotional mode, chanting its single-line mantra skyward over a mesmeric wriggle of synths and snaking guitar. It's a hypnotic performance, with Coyes and Dunis' voices meeting in odd places as they attack the song's central statement from all angles. All the Sun That Shines" is so melodically generous that it seems made for sharing, the soundtrack for your next sun salutation or couples' mud bath.

Peaking Lights' first vinyl releases, Imaginary Falcons (2009) and Space Primitive (2010), both appeared on Night People, and contained extremely lo-fi space-pop songs shrouded in echo and tape hiss. The duo made their first appearance on Los Angeles-based label Not Not Fun in 2010, sharing a split 7" (as part of the label's Bored Fortress series) with Night People founders Wet Hair. The album spawned two different remix EPs: 936 Remixes (Weird World), which featured takes by dub pioneer Adrian Sherwood and cloud rap duo Main Attrakionz, and the more dance-friendly 936 Remixed, which was issued by NNF's house sublabel 100% Silk. 2012 saw the release of the duo's third album, Lucifer, a more professionally recorded album which expanded their sound and included guest vocalizations from their newborn son Mikko. Lucifer in Dub and the house-centric Lucifer Re-Lit followed.
