It Ain't Me Babe" is a song by Bob Dylan that originally appeared on his fourth album Another Side of Bob Dylan, which was released in 1964 by Columbia Records.

It Ain't Me, Babe (оригинал Bob Dylan). Это не я, детка (перевод Владимир Яньков из Черноголовки). Go 'way from my window. It ain't me you're lookin' for, babe. Я не тот, кого ты ищешь. Go lightly from the ledge, babe. Спустись с небес, детка, Go lightly on the ground. Не торопясь спустись на землю. I'm not the one you want, babe. Я не тот, кто тебе нужен, детка. I will only let your down.

It Ain't Me Babe is the first studio album by the American rock band the Turtles. It was released in October 1965 on White Whale Records. Prior to recording, the band members required written permission from their parents due to being underage. Included on the album is original work from the band's high school performing days and their own interpretations of popular songs from other musicians. The most successful track "It Ain't Me Babe" reached on the national charts.

From the very start of his career, Dylan saw his songs covered by all manners of artists, ranging from colleagues and peers to longhair rock bands, easy listening outfits, and weirdos like William Shatner, so the absurd abundance of Chimes of Freedom in a way fits into the grand pattern of history: his songs were always up for grabs, they've survived terrible. misguided covers, they've been performed with loving faith, they've been reinvented once and again.

Shadowing Dylan on vocals is gospel great (and Dylan flame) Clydie King: "I get chills when I hear her just breathe," Dylan said. Every Grain of Sand" taps into a moving humility ("Sometimes I turn, there's someone there, other times it's only me," he sings). This is Bob Dylan as the Jeremiah of the heart, torching romantic verse and "the girl" with a firestorm of unforgiving words. Having railed against the hypocrisies of the body politic, he now starts to pick on enemies that are a little more familiar: the scene, high society, the "pretty people" who think they've "got it made. If you ain't got nothing, you got nothing to lose" is the T-shirt. But the line that I like the best is "You never turned around to see the frowns on the jugglers and the clowns/When they all did tricks for you/You never understood that it ain't no good/You shouldn't let other people get your kicks for yo.

Bob Dylan never wrote any songs about body glitter or throwing up in the closet. Diana Krall, Billy Bragg, Pete Townshend, and other major talents opt for straight, folky readings of songs that beg for a reggaeton arrangement or a brostep remix - anything to update the same classics we’ve heard a bajillion times before. True, Ziggy Marley and Michael Franti bring some freshness, but even they can’t resist those bland -trade-coffee-shop guitars. Apologies to Brett Dennen and Dierks Bentley, whose respective rootsy spins on You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere and Señor are lovely, but after listening to your trillionth fingerpicking solo, it’s easy to think, Dylan went electric for this? By contrast, Kronos Quartet and Philip Glass sound almost revolutionary on their gorgeous, avant-classical Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right, the only song that appears twice here.
