Blood on the Tracks is the 15th studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on January 20, 1975 by Columbia Records. The album marked Dylan's return to Columbia Records after a two-album stint with Asylum Records. Dylan commenced recording the album in New York City in September 1974. In December, shortly before Columbia was due to release the record, Dylan abruptly re-recorded much of the material in a studio in Minneapolis

Released January 20, 1975. Blood on the Tracks Tracklist. 1. Tangled Up in Blue Lyrics. By 1975, Bob Dylan’s career had tailspinned. He was considered the voice of a generation, in the 1960s, but his politics were more and more irrelevant, he personally didn’t like his political label, and he hadn’t released a well received album in the entire 1970s. More and more people were convinced his time had come and gone, until he released Blood on the Tracks in 1975, in perhaps the greatest and most stunning comeback for an artist ever

Remember that he gave us voice, When our innocence died forever, Bob Dylan made that moment into art. The wonder is that he survived. That is no small thing. And here is Dylan, bringing feeling back home. In this album, he is as personal and as universal as Yeats or Blake; speaking for himself, risking that dangerous opening of the veins, he speaks for us all. The words, the music, the tones of voice speak of regret, melancholy, a sense of inevitable farewell, mixed with sly humor, some rage, and a sense of simple joy. They are the poems of a survivor. The warning voice of the innocent boy is no longer here, because Dylan has chosen not to remain a boy.

Bob Dylan's Bootleg Series pretty much gave up on the casual fan about five years ago when it explored, in depth and on two CDs, the mostly maligned 1969-71 period that yielded Self Portrait, an album that proved the voice of a generation was fallible. Since then, the series has gone deep with six discs of The Basement Tapes, 18 CDs of the celebrated 1965-66 period and a nine-disc look at the born-again era that comes close to Self Portrait for its hatred among Dylanphiles.

Blood on the Tracks is a classic and highly regarded album by one of the greatest artists of all time. This is one of the best albums that Bob Dylan ever released. Every track is outstanding. With amazing songs like Tangled Up in Blue, Shelter from the Storm and Simple Twist of Fate, this album is a winner from start to finish. Dylan is one of the greatest songwriters of all time, and there will never be anyone like him. If I sound a bit biased, it's true. I'm a die-hard Dylan fan and always will be. However, this album is outstanding and a must-have for any Dylan fan or anyone else who loves great music. 5 people found this helpful. This album demonstrates the breadth and depth of Dylan's imagination, power and musical craft. It is an album for the ages, completely above and beyond the need for validation from prize-distributing Norwegians!

Dylan originally recorded the album across four days in September 1974 at A&R Studios in New York with producer Phil Ramone. For reasons he’s never fully explained, he recut five of the songs at Sound 80 Studio in Minneapolis three months later. Every single take from the New York sessions is on More Blood, More Tracks, but the outtakes from the Minneapolis sessions have been lost. We have no idea what happened to them, says the source. Bob Dylan – If You See Her, Say Hello (Take 1) from More Blood, More Tracks. Rumors of a Blood on the Tracks Bootleg Series have swirled for years, but the Dylan camp was reluctant to commit to it. For a lot of years we’ve been trying to figure out how to do this, says the source. But it’s an unusual project because there’s just 12 songs, or 13 if you count ‘Spanish Is The Loving Tongue,’ and he’s trying to find his way into them.

Blood On The Tracks is Bob Dylan's 18th released album. Recorded in 1974 and released in 1975, Tracks is one of Dylan's most autobiographical albums. All the songs seem to revolve around Dylan's split up with his wife Sara Dylan. All of these songs show an appreciation for things once had. Dylan's voice may be considered "bad" but in this album, no other voice make as many emotions to look for beauty and hope in the pain and dissapoint. Thought one of Dylan's and anybodys greatest albums, Blood On The Tracks is a gem in Bob Dylan's career.

Notes

This is an alternate later Australian release, refer to r6255628. It also has orange/yellow CBS sunburst labels. The labels have the title and artist name on two lines. The back cover has song titles listed at the top. Everything is cheap about this release, thin vinyl, thin card, the inner sleeve doesn't even fit properly in the outer sleeve with two or three mm hanging out of the sleeve. I'm confident it is a later release as I bought this copy out of the sale bin when CDs were dominating the market and LPs were being deleted at a rapid rate.
