Get up - keep in line, It's gettin' tighter all the time You say you're feeling fine, It's gettin' tighter all the time. Get a load off your mind, This place is right, It's hard to find. The mood is set alright, It's gonna be a long, long night. You keep on spinning 'round, You find it hard to touch the ground, And time is all it takes You'll find it easy once you make.

Martin Popoff has a new book published - Gettin’ Tighter: Deep Purple ’68 – ’76. According to his press release, the book is 250 pages long and covers every last recorded track throughout the band’s celebrated albums from the ’60s and ’70s, b-sides and key solo career moments together with previously never published photos by Rich Galbraith. We don’t have a copy (yet), so this is what we’ll have to rely upon. You can purchase the book directly from Martin’s site. Related: Paicey in Buddy Rich tribute show. Stuttgart vs. Kansas City.

Talk about Deep Purple - Gettin' Tighter

fabscf
US single from the Come Taste The Band album. Probably not the best choice for a single, because Gettin' Tighter is a funky rocker. While DP fans are/were very opened minded and accepting of the bands frequent line-up changes, this was a bit much. In just three short years, Deep Purple went from the bludgeoning, molten lava attack of Made in Japan to this.... *sigh* The last original single released by Purple on Warner Bros in the 1970's.
