Welcome the Worms is a confident, slick album loaded with tasty hooks, and the acceptance of leaving teenage angst. indie rock trio Bleached has demonstrated tremendous growth with their sophomore full-length record, Welcome The Worms; they've moved beyond the monochromatic album art which has marked each of their previous releases - this one's duo-chromatic! Looking beyond the (mostly) salmon album art, though, it's easy to hear that Bleached quite simply rocks. Listening through Welcome The Worms, it's not exactly difficult to describe Bleached's basic sound, but it's.

Album · 2016 · 10 Songs. With the opening Keep On Keepin’ On -a forceful, distorted chugger bolstered by an infectious chorus-Bleached lay out the blueprint for Welcome the Worms. band’s second album is filled with vicious but vivacious bangers, each sugary hook smeared with grime, as heard in the dizzying pound of Trying to Lose Myself Again or the Joan Jett-indebted snarl of Sour Candy. The unabashedly ’80s power pop muscle of Hollywood, We Did It All Wrong ends things with a glorious bang that’ll pull you right back to the start. Welcome the Worms Bleached.

What's immediately striking about the album is its simplicity-its melodies are stark, clean, and in direct contrast to the lo-fi, purposefully muddled sound that has defined Bleached and bands like them up until this point. Instead of scratchy and whimsical, Jennifer's voice comes through sultry and clear.

Courtesy of the artist. Jessie and Jennifer Clavin started working on new music while the former was getting evicted and the latter was abandoning an unhealthy relationship. With bassist Micayla Grace, the reeling sisters decamped to a tiny house in Joshua Tree to write. And so it is with the excellent Welcome The Worms, which makes good on the promise of Bleached's debut, 2013's Ride Your Heart - and fills the vacuum left by the dissolution of the Clavins' previous band, the beloved . garage-rock group Mika Miko. There is not a moment of self-pity here and, more remarkably, not a moment of judgment. It may only be a single line in the perfect "Wednesday Night Melody," but this record's mantra really could be, "It's good to feel just a little alive.
