Classic Yes is the second compilation album by the English rock band Yes, released in November 1981 by Atlantic Records. It was released after the group had disbanded in early 1981 following their 1980 tour in support of their tenth studio album, Drama (1980). The tracks were compiled by bassist Chris Squire and the cover was designed by Roger Dean

Anything prior to The Yes Album is cut out, no attempt is made to salvage snippets from Relayer or Tales from Topographic Oceans; Drama and Tormato are dispensed with. What remains is what made this band great: the science fiction and fantasy-laced epics, the tangible wizardry of their arrangements, moments that crystallized the magical power of music, and two unreleased live tracks from 1978 that find the band tethered to the realm of mortals. Classic Yes remains the place to start if you're interested in the band or just want to hear their best music in one sitting.

Much was made of Yes' shift from one singer to another, as Jon Anderson was replaced by Trevor Horn, Benoit David and then Jon Davison. Anderson, in fact, eventually started his own competing version of the group with former bandmates Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman. But, as you'll see from the ranking of the Best Song on Every Yes Album, the band has always been a sturdy bunch. Keyboardists have come and gone (or in Rick Wakeman's case, come and gone and come and gone and etc. et., but Yes remain

Classic Yes is the second compilation album by British progressive rock group Yes. Originally released as a single LP with a bonus 7-inch 33 1/3 RPM disc featuring live versions of "Roundabout" and "I've Seen All Good People" from 1978, everything has been compiled onto one handy CD. It was taken out of circulation by 2003. Although it was initially not a strong seller, Classic Yes ultimately went platinum in the US and still remains the ideal entry point for Yes novices.
