Contact, the 3rd album from the new wave band Platinum Blonde, was released in 1987. Canadian sales of Alien Shores and Contact exceeded 100,000 copies. The album reached a high of 20 on the Canadian charts. Platinum Blonde: Sergio Galli: guitar, backing vocals. Mark Holmes: lead and backing vocals, guitar. Kenny MacLean: bass, guitar, keyboards, backing vocals. Sascha: drums, percussion. with: David Bendeth: guitar. Jeff Bova: keyboards. Michelle Cobbs: backing vocals.

This album marked Platinum Blonde's commercial peak, and in retrospect you can only wonder why it failed to spread the band's massive Canadian success to America. It didn't, but Platinum Blonde had perfected the formula anyway on the single "Crying Over You," adding squalling guitar from Rush's Alex Lifeson to the polished.

Alien Shores was Platinum Blonde's 1985 follow up to their debut album Standing in the Dark. Released by Columbia/CBS Records Canada in 1985, it contained one of the band's biggest Canadian hits with "Crying Over You" and their only US hit, "Somebody Somewhere". The album reached a high of 3 on the Canadian charts. This album was the first to feature Kenny MacLean as a full-time bassist and keyboardist. This freed lead singer Mark Holmes to focus on lead vocal duties.

Platinum Blonde Format: Audio Cassette. It's amazing that this album sold nearly . million copies yet is virtually impossible to find. I guess it fell through the cracks as the band peaked before the introduction of the Compact Disc. But it would almost be worth it! Platinum Blonde was a great band, kind of a Duran Duran meets hair metal.

Wasn't really sure at first (strange mix between 80s synth pop and hardrock - 2 or 3 stars?), but convinced me more and more while playing.
