The album title refers to the radical feminist Shulamith Firestone whose book The Dialectic of Sex was the main inspiration to singer and lyricist Channy Leaneagh after the recording of the album. United Crushers’ (March 4 Memphis Industries) is POLIÇA’s third full length release and most remarkable album to date. The band, which includes Channy Leaneagh, dual drummers, Drew Christopherson and Ben Ivascu and Chris Beirden on bass with producer Ryan Olson at the helm, collectively wrote the album in Minneapolis in the winter of 2015 during their first true break from two years of touring.

Lead singer Channy Leaneagh uses strange effects to couch her intimate lyrics, and Ryan Olson treats the Minneapolis band’s live instrumentation as source material for his moody electronic production. On Summer Please, Leaneagh pitches her voice down to a mournful wail, while her hurt croon turns Lately into a warped ballad. Frontwoman Channy Leaneagh envisioned the band's third album as a set of modern protest songs - which makes sense, considering that they worked on it while riots broke out in their hometown of Minneapolis - and they bring more purpose and urgency to their atmospheric sound than ever before. On Give You the Ghost and Shulamith, the sheer beauty of the music sometimes made it easy to dismiss the substance of the songs, but here, Leaneagh and company deal in issues and emotions that won't be ignored.

The durations are timed without inter-track silences when there was one. However, especially on B-side the tracks do not have inter-track silence.

It's beautifully crafted, but this is not the Poliça album to cement their appeal at a level outside of the devoted hardcore.
