The Best of 1980–1990 is the first greatest hits compilation by Irish rock band U2, released in November 1998. It mostly contains the group's hit singles from the 1980s but also mixes in some live staples as well as one new recording, "Sweetest Thing. In April 1999, a companion video (featuring music videos and live footage) was released. The album was followed by another compilation, The Best of 1990–2000, in 2002.

So, the label and the band decided to pair the compilation with a collection of the group's B-sides from the '80s, none of which had ever appeared on an album before. For die-hard U2 fans, this is something of a godsend - not necessarily a holy grail, which would have been a complete B-sides collection, including the long-missing early EPs - since many of these tracks have been out of print for years. That's not to say they'll be entirely pleased with what they hear.

The Best of 1980-1990 é o primeiro greatest hits ao estilo de coletânea musical da banda de rock irlandesa U2, lançada em 10 de novembro de 1998. Ele contém principalmente singles de sucesso do grupo a partir da década de 1980, mas também mixagens em algumas canções ao vivo, bem como uma nova gravação. The album was followed by another compilation, The Best of 1990–2000, in 2002. While this threat never materialized, it did result in the 2-disc version being in very high demand.
