His career has concentrated on period performance of classical music, in particular from the baroque and early modern periods. In 2007, he was convicted of fourteen charges of indecent assault, some against minors, and jailed. Following his release, he resumed his musical career.

You don't have to be a religious maniac to listen to this fabulous album, you merely need an ear for, and appreciation of, beautiful music. Paul McCreesh and the Gabrielli Consort and Players bring this early 17th Century work to glowing life, the rising and falling cadences of truly wonderful voices mingle exquisitely with the counterpoint of the magnificent organ of the Cathedral in Lerma. Here is a work that should rank proudly alongside those of Monteverdi, Gabrielli, Tallis, Byrd, and Fayrfax, and many others whose sublime works are too easily forgotten. At San Pedro church the King was treated to a lavish performance of First Vespers and Salve Service. And to this very church in Northern Spain Paul McCreesh and Company set out on their mission to reenact this same service. The results were incredible.
