This album is also about and with the Swedish saxophone visionary Bengt Nordström, Frippe who first of all talked to me about making and playing natural music. Then meeting Ornette Coleman and Albert Ayler changed his musical vision; so much that he no longer fit into the contemporary jazz scene in Sweden

Then meeting Ornette Coleman and Albert Ayler changed his musical vision; so much that he no longer fit into the contemporary jazz scene in Sweden. Frippe spoke of a totally spontaneous, improvised, creative music at a time when everyone else was trying to master bebop. Because of this, he was left to play alone for many years. This album is also about me talking to my children Nema (b. 1993) and Simon Cecil (b. 1990) to continue making natural music with your own voice, body and whatever music instruments you use. Bengt Nordström – Natural Music This Swedish saxophonist is perhaps the least well known artist in your list, but I understand he was a transformative force on the Scandinavian jazz scene, producing Albert Ayler's first album, and recording some of the first solo saxophone albums, of which this is on. Yeah, it's a long story. When I moved down from Lapland to Stockholm when I was 19, I didn't know anyone in town. I had just moved down to play music and they were quite difficult times, working in a factory for a couple of years and practising in the wardrobe, all the classic shit. Bengt was one of the first musicians on the scene that I met and he was really curious. We played together a lot, talked a lot and he was quite a character. But the fact is that he was producing that first Albert Ayler record in '62

Tenor Saxophone – Bengt Nordström. These records were privatly pressed in very small series by Bengt Frippe Nordström himself. Usually amounting to a maximum of 10 copies to give away to friends. Frippe combined a- and b-sides in whichever way he wanted to. This contains the 2nd take of the "Bird Notes" recording which runs on 45rpm.
