George Braith holds a singularly unique place in the pantheon of these stylistas, following the path of Kirk in playing two saxophones while combining bop and soul-jazz. This set represents the complete works of Braith on Blue Note in 1963 and 1964 from the albums Two Souls in One, Soul Stream, and Extension

George Braith (born George Braithwaite on June 26, 1939) saxophonist from New York City. Braith signed with Blue Note and, in 1963, appeared on John Patton's Blue John and recorded his own debut album, Two Souls in One; it combined soul-jazz and folk melodies, plus the lengthy, popular "Braith-a-Way. His next two Blue Note albums, Soul Stream and Extension, found him continuing to improve his technique and compositional skill, though he began to move away from his two-horn technique. After leaving Blue Note, Braith recorded two sessions for Prestige, 1966's Laughing Soul and 1967's more outside Musart

Notes

Liberty Records mono repress from somewhere between 1966-1970. Runouts have VAN GELDER stamp on both sides meaning this was most likely an All Disc or Keel Mfg plant pressing (East Coast) from supplied original metal stampers.

Catalog number is same as original mono pressing by Plastylite, but no ear and labels have the "BLUE NOTE RECORDS • A DIVISION OF LIBERTY RECORDS, INC." on inside of blue & white center labels. Came with a printed inner sleeve for Liberty Records reading "Liberty: The First Family Of Recorded Entertainment" and address for free catalog listed as: Liberty Records, Inc., Dept. C, 6920 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, California 90028.
