Vernice "Bunky" Green (born April 23, 1935) is an American jazz alto saxophonist and educator. Green was raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he played the alto saxophone, mainly at a local club called "The Brass Rail". His first big break came when he was hired in New York City by Charles Mingus as a replacement for Jackie McLean in the 1960s. His brief stint with the eccentric bass player made a deep impression.

Recorded at Ter Mar Studios, Chicago, November 1966. Comes in mini LP replica with OBI & Japanese insert. 24-Bit/96KHz remastering. Other Versions (5 of 5) View All. Cat.

Help us complete the Bunky Green discography. Listening to him live then talking to him after the show left a strong impression on me. The best show I ever attended was Charles Mingus Big Band - Under the Fez (when the sessions were still happening at that venue in NYC). The first jazz record I bought was Kind of Blue by Miles Davis. and listen! Show less.
