Infernal (Edge of Sanity album). Infernal is the sixth full-length studio album by the Swedish death metal band Edge of Sanity, released by Black Mark Production on February 5, 1997. Dan Swanö left the band after recording for the album was completed due to artistic differences between himself and Andreas Axelsson. Swanö would later return and continue using the Edge of Sanity name after the other members had disbanded following the release of Cryptic.

Edge Of Sanity is ostensibly a 'progressive' death metal band, but based on the content of this album, they seem to be a blend of melodeath and melodic hard rock that you could hear on the radio without a second thought. There is a distinct lack of experimental death metal progressiveness on "Infernal" and while the band are no doubt musically very talented, you get a feeling that they got bored with this one. Even Dan Swano's vocals, which have a harsh edge to them that sets him apart from his contemporaries (even the mighty Mikael Akerfeldt!) just don't seem to be putting the same effort into them as they do on either of the Crimson albums.

Crimson is the fifth full-length studio album by Swedish death metal band Edge of Sanity, which is their first concept album and was released in 1996 by Black Mark Production. It features a single 40-minute track, telling a story in the distant future, when human civilization is about to end. The album, which features Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt, received substantial critical acclaim, and is considered by most fans to be Edge of Sanity's finest achievement

Edge of Sanity was a Swedish death metal band that, alongside Opeth, is commonly regarded as being the first to fuse extreme metal styles like death and black metal with progressive rock. The group was founded by Dan Swanö in 1989 and ended in 2003. Edge of Sanity began as a death metal band with their debut release Nothing But Death Remains.
