Superior Massacre is Myrkskog’s second full-length, and this time around the band manages to forge an immense slab of death metal that sounds quite unique when compared to the rest of Norway’s ever-expanding death metal scene. Production-wise, this album is MASSIVE. The drums are upfront and pummeling in the mix, which is by no means a bad thing. Guitars are quite low-end heavy and razor-sharp in modern death metal fashion, with every note and twisted harmonic shining through.

Their second album Superior Massacre is much more death metal-oriented with more prominent bass-lines and less tremolo picked riffs. The name 'Myrkskog' is a translation of the Norwegian word for 'Mirkwood'. Destructhor joined Morbid Angel in 2008 and departed in 2015. Since leaving Myrkskog, Savant M (going under the moniker Drakul Azacain) formed the black metal band Disiplin, who have released two albums, and was briefly a member of Dissection
