Talk about Demigod - Let Chaos Prevail

Yramede
Demigod - Let Chaos Prevail This is DEMIGOD's second appearance on TMO and today we present to you their third album entitled “Let Chaos Prevail”. There are some bands out there that release an album every couple of years, and then there are bands like DEMIGOD; this album was released fifteen years after their debut album and five after the second, so DEMIGOD can hardly be accused of being prolific. Churning out one album after the other is not what is important when quality is considered however, and without any further ado, let’s move on to find out if the five years was time well spent. If you are familiar with BEHEMOTH, a name like DEMIGOD might conjure up false expectations of brutal, uncompromising and no-holds-barred Death Metal and, while you certainly will find this to be Death Metal, it is far removed from the brand of the Polish band. I will stop myself from labelling this as such, but their musical style is just a bit technical and certainly not as thunderous as other bands in the genre have proved to be. This might make or break the album in the ears of some listeners as they do not incorporate the technicalities that draw those more inclined to Technical Death Metal, but on the other side of the coin, it may be too prominent for those who feel the need for speed and a slight brain haemorrhage. This will appeal mightily to those who would rather have the best of both worlds however, and DEMIGOD achieved a good balance between fast skin bashing and riffing, and slower beats with clear and flowing strings. To be honest I was slightly disappointed by “Let Chaos Prevail”. There are enough moments on the album that makes it clear that this is a good band with above average abilities, but the album leaves me uninspired and I can echo fellow TMO’er Neil’s sentiments in his review of “Slumber Of Sullen Eyes”. This is certainly worth a listen if it ever crosses your path, but there are better albums out there that may be more deserving of precious listening time.
