James Vernon Taylor (born March 12, 1948) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. A five-time Grammy Award winner, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. He is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 100 million records worldwide. Taylor achieved his breakthrough in 1970 with the No. 3 single "Fire and Rain" and had his first No. 1 hit in 1971 with his recording of "You've Got a Friend", written by Carole King in the same year.

We know it didn’t happen, as Taylor tells us himself that he’s never really been, so I don’t really know. If you were to ask 100 people on the street to name a James Taylor song, it’s a safe bet that 99 of them will answer, without delay, Fire and Rain. His 1970 hit resonated with so many people because of its themes of loneliness, depression, and missing a friend that you know you’ll never see again. Taylor wrote the song after learning of a dear friend’s suicide. A classic concert finale, if he doesn’t do Sweet baby James. Leslie Glass Bines July 15, 2016. Cecil Taylor (left) and Bill Dixon. Taylor photo by Peter Symes. Although friends since school, Duets 1992 marks one of the rare occasions Bill Dixon and Cecil Taylor actually recorded together in the studio – Dixon's appearance on Taylor's 1966 Blue Note LP being another. In 1992 they undertook a brief tour of Italy and France and spent two days in the studio where these recordings were made

For one thing, Taylor has been a successful concert attraction for more than 20 years. For another, an artist who has scored in excess of 30 chart records (on four different labels) over those years is represented by only one, 20-year-old hits compilation.

Also i prefer this live version of several other songs, namely "Wasnt That A Mighty Storm" and " Another Day". JT and Band really brought their "A Game" for this concert. Taylor captivates the legendary New York venue for nearly two hours, performing a wide range of classic songs throughout his career, spanning from his earliest records to his then most recent recordings from his 1997 Grammy winning release, "Hourglass.
