Acoustic in Concert is the sixth live album by Scottish rock band Simple Minds, released in June 2017. On the eve of the Acoustic album release on 11 November 2016, Simple Minds took to the stage at London's Hackney Empire to perform a special show for the "BBC Radio2 In Concert" series. The show comprised acoustic versions of some of their greatest hits and best-loved tracks along with cover versions of some of the songs that shaped them

Acoustic is the seventeenth studio album by Scottish rock band Simple Minds, released on 11 November 2016 by Caroline International. The genesis of Acoustic can be traced back to a rare live session the band recorded for the BBC Radio Two's Chris Evans Breakfast Show on 26 September 2014, then promoting their 16th studio album, Big Music.

Scottish modern rock figureheads Simple Minds will have Acoustic In Concert released on DVD, Blu-ray, DVD + CD and digital formats by Eagle Rock Entertainment on 16 June. The releases capture the band’s November 2016 performance, on the eve of their much-admired and highly successful Acoustic album, at London’s Hackney Empire for a BBC Radio 2 In Concert show. It was in this unique setting that Simple Minds introduced their newly reimagined acoustic set featuring new versions of many of their signature songs

We learn in the liner notes that for the band Acoustic was something of a nervous adventure and they didn’t want to perpetuate the usual acoustic impression of bongoes on the beach. The gig is performed in the intimate and ornate surroundings of Hackney Empire which makes me recall a superb showcase gig the band played back in 2005 at The Venue in London’s Leicester Square when launching ‘Black & White 050505′. It was a bold move for the band to record this gig in front of a national TV and radio audience when they had barely rehearsed the material.
