Niggaz4Life (also known as Efil4zaggin) is the second and final studio album by gangsta rap group . A, released on May 28, 1991. It was their final album, as the group disbanded later the same year after the departure of Dr. Dre and songwriter The . to form Death Row Records; the album features only four members of the original line-up, as Ice Cube had already left the group in 1989. Niggaz4Life debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200, but in its second week peaked at #1.
Although the making of Efil4zaggin wasn’t especially documented in last year’s Straight Outta Compton biopic, it was a sonic triumph that provided a crucial launching pad for the G-funk sound that producer and rapper Dr. Dre would usher in the following year. The LP’s fascinating history begins with Dre and Yella ditching samples by and large in favor of recording real instruments, for the tighter, deeper sound that would eventually turn gangsta rap into America’s popular music of choice.
Recorded and mixed at Audio Achievements, Torrance, CA Mastered at Bernie Grundman Mastering. A Fan Club - 3758 Sepulveda Blvd. 109, Torrance, California 90505. On the back of the cover, one can read the following information: Bass by Colin Wolfe, except Alwayz Into Somethin' and Real Niggaz by Mike Sims.
s for Niggaz4Life-is the second and final album from . released through Ruthless Records on May 28, 1991. It was the group’s first full-length project following the departure of Ice Cube in 1989 and following the release of the group’s 1990 EP 100 Miles and Runnin'. The album, primarily written by MC Ren and The . took the profane lyrics of Straight Outta Compton and went even harder over soundscapes provided by Dr. Dre and DJ Yella
Efil4Zaggin, meanwhile, is about as close as you can come to a death metal/hip-hop hybrid. People will get hurt here. The group, sans-Cube, is simply trying to further their status as icons of shock-rap. Unlike someone like Alice Cooper or Marilyn Manson, though, . sound like they've actually gone insane: The song titles alone ("To Kill a Hooker", "One Less Bitch", "Find 'Em, Fuck 'Em and Flee") are enough to send some people into seizures. Efil4Zaggin just adds the 100 Miles and Runnin' EP, which is fairly superfluous. The title track, though, is easily one of the best rap songs of all time- . if commissioned to write a James Bond theme. Listening to these discs again just remind me how ludicrous the whole Eminem controversy was. More than a decade ago, . was instructing suburbia to smash bitches' brains in with a cock in one hand and a glock in the other.
