Gas (stylized as GAS or G A S) is the main musical project of German electronic musician and composer Wolfgang Voigt (born 1961). The project was created as an expressive medium inspired by his experiences with taking LSD in the Königsforst, a German forest situated near his hometown of Cologne, for long periods in his youth. He has claimed that the intention of the project is to "bring the forest to the disco, or vice-versa".

March 19, 2018 In News. Intended to be heard as a whole from beginning to en. .German electronic producer Wolfgang Voigt is releasing new album RAUSCH under his GAS alias, this May via Kompakt. RAUSCH follows a 10xLP box set reissue in 2016 and 2017’s Narkopop, his first GAS release in over 17 years. Voigt will also premiere a live version of RAUSCH at a hometown show in Cologne with the Köln Philharmonie on 9th May, ahead of a worldwide tour of the project

With his new Narkopop album, electronic musician Wolfgang Voigt returns to the sounds of his Gas project after nearly two decades. His initial four-album output has been boxed not just once, with the tidy CD set Nah Und Fern in 2008, but again last year with a super-heavyweight set of 10 vinyl LPs, Box. Rather than honouring a long career, these sets memorialised a project of a grand and serious vision, the output of four years between 1996 and 2000. In that time Gas (a pseudonym for Voight), made music that could be measured on a spectrum, from dark to bright – concluding with the polished Pop album from 2000 – all united by an engrossing signature sound.
