Sometimes known as Big Luther Kent or Amos Kent, and as Duke Royal - has been a fixture on the New Orleans music scene since the mid-'60s. He spent most of the mid- to late '60s singing with a band called the Greek Fountains. He toured with Blood, Sweat And Tears through much of 1974 and 1975 and part of 1976.

Luther is the debut album by American recording artist group Luther, released in May 1976. The album features Luther Vandross and along with members Anthony Hinton, Diane Sumler, Theresa V. Reed, and Christine Wiltshire. It's Good for the Soul", "Funky Music (Is a Part of Me)" and "The 2nd Time Around" were released as singles, but the album failed to chart. Vandross bought back the rights to the album after the record label dropped the group, preventing its later re-release.

Luther Kent (born June 23, 1948) is an American blues singer based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Kent is known for a big soulful voice and his big horn-based group Luther Kent & Trick Bag that mixed swinging blues with New Orleans R&B. In 1948, Luther Kent was born Kent Rowell in New Orleans, Louisiana. As a vocalist, he was influenced by artists such as Bobby Bland, Etta James, and Ray Charles.

Kent released three albums with Trick Bag, the last being in 1997 before the band disbanded. Although no longer performing as frequently as they once did, the members still regroup every year to play the New Orleans Jazz Fest and their appearance has been a fixture at the festival for more than two decades. The horn-based band performs many old blues classics and Kent is one of the best rhythm and blues singers you’ll see at the festival. In 2000, he was inducted into the Louisiana Hall of Fame and the Louisiana Blues Hall of Fame.
