Land of the Free is the fourth studio album by German power metal band Gamma Ray, released in 1995. Continuing a trend that would conclude with the band's fifth studio release, the lineup for the album was different from the previous one, as Land of the Free was the first Gamma Ray album to be released since the departure of Ralf Scheepers, leaving Kai Hansen to take up lead vocals.

With Land of the Free, Gamma Ray took their song writing to a new level. Sure, they had song excellent numbers in the past, but they just expand on it in a whole new way here. Every song here features an impossibly catchy chorus that is not only engrained in your memory for a very, very long time. However at the same time, the music does not lose its intensity, and even as Kai belts out the memorable choruses, Gamma Ray still presses forward with the same strength and authority as they do during the verses or bridges of the songs  . If there was ever an essential power metal album, Land of the Free would be that album. Combing melody with power, catchiness with speed, this record has everything one could ask for. It is here that guitarist Kai Hansen debuts on vocals for the band, a position he has rightfully held ever since.

The stigma of Helloween is a hard one to get rid off, as illustrated on Gamma Ray's first three LPs. Kai Hansen succeeded in creating a band of his own, but he couldn't come up with an idiosyncratic style or even implement it well. Land of the Free is, however, a complete success considering Hansen's progression. Land of the Free intriguingly breaks the basic concept that Gamma Ray's contemporaries have used so much. The opener, "Rebellion in Dreamland," for example, doesn't have a decent structure.

About LAND OF THE FREE. A political track that brings up mass incarceration, the bitter sweet contrast in American history for Afro-Americans, and Joey’s ambition to create change for the future. The song was originally teased on January 16th for Martin Luther King day. ‘ 'Land of the Free’‘ was released on January 20th 2017-both Joey’s birthday and the day of Donald Trump’s inauguration-and is a single for Joey’s sophmore album AABA. The artwork shows Joey in a ‘'Make Amerikkka Suck Again’‘ shirt with what seems to be an illustration of a Nazi eagle symbol, (Reichsadler).

Land of the free and we're united, make our destiny, we take control, yeah, never divided, we got the power and we'll never be, divided we fall, oh yeah, land of the free, free to conspire, control destiny, oh yeah, you're gonna see, no use resistin', you're livin' in the land of the free, free to control. your life, land of the free, free to control your mind, land of the free? Land of the free, united nations of hypocrisy, profit's our goal, we're incorporated, it's big business and oil companies controlling us all, oh yeah, land of the free, free to conspire, control destiny, oh yeah, you're gonna see, no use resistin', you're livin' in the. album: "Land Of The Free?"
