The Man Who Sold the World is the third studio album by English rock artist David Bowie. It was originally released in the United States by Mercury Records on 4 November 1970, and then in April 1971 in the United Kingdom. He recorded the album with producer Tony Visconti at Trident Studios in London and Advision Studios in central London. The album's hard rock style was a departure from the largely acoustic music of Bowie's previous self-titled album

Produced by Tony Visconti. Album The Man Who Sold the World. The Man Who Sold the World Lyrics. We passed upon the stair We spoke of was and when Although I wasn't there He said I was his friend Which came as some surprise I spoke into his eyes, "I thought you died alone A long long time ago". Oh no, not me I never lost control You're face to face With the man who sold the world.
The Man Who Sold the World" is a song written and performed by David Bowie. It is the title track of his third album, which was released in the US in November 1970 and in the UK in April 1971. The song has been covered by a number of other artists, notably by Lulu, who had a UK No. 3 hit with her version in 1974, and Nirvana, whose 1993 performance of the song for the television program MTV Unplugged introduced it to a new audience.
David from Youngstown, OhioThis is Bowie's heaviest rock album. Rudeboy from AustraliaAnother good version is that done by Simple Minds on the Neon Lights album - check it out. Marcus from Columbia, MoI actually thought the cover was great. George from Bournemouth, EnglandBased on the Robert A. Heinlein story Requiem and its prequel The Man Who Sold The World, both written in 1950. Erik from Bloomfield Hills, MiTo me, this seems to be about someone who drifted off away from society into his own little world somehow and now wants to return to "the real world.
Okay, first of all the song 'Man Who Sold the world' was a single by David Bowie way back in November 1970, and it was covered by nirvana and released in 1994. I grew up listening to nirvana and always found cobain's rendition to my liking, but the interpretation of the song is based on Bowie. The arrangements are similar. It’s worth remembering that Bowie’s brother had schizophrenia and was institutionalised. He featured in All the Madmen from the same album. The characters on the outside of society feature prominently on this album; from misguided presidents, through to the lost older children, and the extinct Supermen. The Man Who Sold the World is another outsider, but this time it’s Bowie himself. 1. k views · View 10 Upvoters · Answer requested by.
