The Next Day is David Bowie’s 24th studio album, marking his first new material in near a decade. It was recorded by Bowie and producer Tony Visconti in secret sessions over two years in New York City – where Bowie had lived since 1992 – and thus when announced, on January 8, 2013 (Bowie’s 66th birthday), came as a surprise to the press and fandom who had thought the singer had retired. The Next Day was released in March 2013 to critical acclaim and topped charts worldwide (including Bowie’s native UK; in the US, it was behind Bon Jovi’s What About Now). The Next Day Q&A. Speaking to The Guardian following the album’s release, Visconti said: The album is eclectic, it’s got five really blistering rock tracks. The rest is really mid-tempo, mysterious and evocative. He’s been obsessed with medieval English history, which, believe it or not, makes great material for a rock song.

The Next Day. Design: Barnbrook Portrait of David Bowie on "Heroes" by Sukita. Inner portrait of David Bowie by Jimmy King. Released: March 2013 Label: Sony/RCA Producers: David Bowie, Tony Visconti. The Next Day. Look into my eyes he tells her I'm gonna say goodbye he says yea Do not cry she begs of him goodbye yea All that day she thinks of his love yea. They whip him through the streets and alleys there The gormless and the baying crowd right there They can't get enough of that doomsday song They can't get enough of it all.

The album found Bowie in a contemplative mood, finally finding peace by twisting up his own past in a way that did service to his accomplishments without overtly repeating them. The following year's Reality pulled off a similar trick, and it seemed like David Bowie was settling into a respectable late-career renaissance. And then, on June 25, 2004, he collapsed backstage after a show in Germany, and had to undergo emergency heart surgery. On several levels, David Bowie's 24th studio album is a cunning act of sleight of hand. On The Next Day, he hasn't only come to terms with his past- he's making his old material work for his new material. For Bowie, the always-savvy son of a public relations man, it's good for business and good for art. The "Heroes"-erasing cover is an admission, a boast, and a provocation ("how dare he!") all at once.

The Next Day (оригинал David Bowie). Другой день (перевод Dan UndeaD из Northrend). Do not cry" she begs of him goodbye yeah. Не плачь" – а она умоляет его не уходить. All that day she thinks of his love yeah. И весь этот день думает только о его любви. They whip him through the streets and alleys there.

A Reality Tour is a live album by David Bowie that was released on 25 January 2010. The album features 22 and 23 November 2003 performances in Dublin during his concert tour A Reality Tour. This is an audio version of the concert video of the same name, except that it adds three bonus tracks.

The Next Day’ is a very brilliant rock record. It’s intelligent, memorable and even a little provocative. Given the dearth of true talent working in the medium of rock at present, there’s every chance you’ll hear your favourite guitar solo of the year on this LP – not to mention the deepest lyrics, the best chord changes or the most catchy choruses (more on those in a minute). That His Davidness can trounce the meagre competition around him in 2013 is no surprise. He’s buried his imitators in every decade he’s worked in, from Slade to Suede  . Should we be surprised that David Bowie’s made an excellent album? In hindsight, probably not. We just weren’t expecting quite such a rich return from our absentee hero. The Next Day’ is a treasure. Terrible cover though.

David Bowie's eagerly awaited new album is thought-provoking, strange and filled with great songs. What The Next Day has that perhaps Lodger didn't is something more prosaic. Whatever else he's been doing, clearly at least some of the last decade has been spent carefully crafting inarguable tunes.

Talk about David Bowie - The Next Day

Fawrindhga
I have a copy of this that was misprinted. Side A label has AL88765461861 but the stamp on the record is BL88765461861 and it plays side b. Wondering if any other of these are floating around.
Celore
And the vinyl vultures are now asking for 30,000 EU.
Hucama
on ebay they sold for roughly 2000 euro's. these will never find another home for that amount, nor should they. Absolutely disgusting for the true fans and collectors who didn't win the raffle.
Llathidan
I'm as true a fan as you or anyone else. Saw him 3 nights in a row in Madison Square Garden in 1983 and 10 or 12 times after that (Attended both Bowienet shows in the Roseland Ballroom NYC too BTW.... Freaking awesome shows!). As much of a fan I am of Bowie, I'm a bigger fan of feeding my family, thus the sale. It's not always evil.....
Whitesmasher
Isn't it heartwarming to see these records, from a UNICEF auction for the children, being hawked at 20K+ by the vinyl vultures? Sick!
Dreladred
Tickets DID cost 5 pounds each...unless you were smart enough to read the T&Cs and saw that unlimited free entries were possible for the price of postage alone
Taulkree
So, 48 of them were raffled off? With a total outlay of 5 quid per? The prices asked are up to 35,000+ euros. These sellers are the people who would sell oxygen masks to fire victims as they stagger out of a burning apartment building. Total vultures.
nadness
The first of each artist or band was sold at auctionThe number two of each artist or band was auctioned in a single batch. As of number 3 they were raffled, each ticket of the draw cost 5 pounds, then the winner paid the shipping cost.https://www.givergy.com/listing/unicef-blue-vinyl/david-bowie-the-next-day-blue-vinyl
Golden freddi
Copy 1 of 50 was auctioned. The rest were distributed via a raffle. You could purchase raffle tickets submit free entries via the mail for the cost of postage alone
Dibei
Did they publish the winning bids? Or was this a raffle where they gave 50 copies away to the holders of the winning tickets? Did these cost $1 or $5000?
Xaluenk
UNICEF obviously hit on a great idea, but maybe should have auctioned them off themselves. I was lucky enough to win one of the Bowie LPs, still in a quandary as to whether I should sell as it might mean more to a bigger fan than me. Don’t think it will make £20k-€30k though!
Itiannta
I do not understand why this needs to be sold for 22K either. Based on what did the first seller put it for that price? If a record of 50 copies is worth this much, than what about test pressings which are usually limited to 5-10 copies? Would they cost 100K? 200K? Mind blowing..
Beabandis
There is no such thing as this release. It is the Japanese special edition for the David Bowie Is Exhibition that is yellow lps.
DireRaven
Love this album. Perhaps his strongest set of songs since... damn, I don't know, Low or Heroes?? Lovely vinyl edition, this one. Obvious great care was taken to ensure the quality. David's voice is so clear (check out Where Are We Now?-- wow) at times, it's like he's in the room with you.
Dogrel
I get a bit tired of decades of these 'special' Japanese imprints for vinyl and CD which become collectable right away. Why does Japan continue to have this exalted position?Regarding the Japanese yellow special vinyl edition, they weren't "released" in the EU - they were only available in Japan. Why? THEY WERE "PRODUCED" IN THE EU! Yes, I know the Bowie exhibit was in Japan at the time and every country has their own special editions . . . that aside, Japan, with its obi strips, often extra bonus tracks etc, Japan seems to excel in its consistently higher collectability. As the DISCOGS page for the yellow vinyl edition states:Only the obi, the japanese booklet and rear insert display the Japanese catalog number and barcode. All other parts are made in EU, the matrixes are indentical to German 2LP+CD.The colour of the LPs is actually light green, not yellow. The item comes in a plastic sleeve and a resealable plastic sleeve.
Fog
My copy says it's distributed by Sony Poland. The details on the listing here don't say that, but I'm assuming this is the same pressing. If so, it sounds great and the gatefold and inner sleeves are of nice quality. And the inclusion of the CD is better than a download, of course. Nice pressing. Flat and no surface noise at all. All of Bowie's 2000s albums are must haves on vinyl.
Moonworm
everyone seems to be selling "Brand New. Sealed". So, I am wondering if it is the original one from 2013 or the new reissues?!
LivingCross
Hi, a recent copy that I purchased has identical reference numbers to this version but no black sticker on the shrinkwrap and has different SID codes, this copy reads:Sony DADCIFPI L555IFPI 94W8A0102260685-0101 and right after this number there is A00 lightly etched Should this be considered a new version? A reprint or simply a variant 3?
Hasirri
Am... I'm pretty sure this album was never released in yellow vinyl in Europe unless it's a bootleg. Anyone think the same?
Tamesya
I get a bit tired of decades of these 'special' Japanese imprints, that become collectable right away. Why does Japan continue to have this exalted position?Regarding the Japanese yellow special vinyl edition (as you probably know). Yes, they weren't released in the EU - they were only available in Japan. Why? They were produced in the EU! As the DISCOGS page for the yellow vinyl edition states: Only the obi, the japanese booklet and rear insert display the Japanese catalog number and barcode. Kamuro
no issues with this release. very clean and nice sound.
Ffyan
Does anyone else have a copy were the A side labels are on the B side and the B side labels are on the A side? I haven't seen any mention of it on any copy notes and was wondering if this error is more common than not. Thank you.
Wal
Yes, I have a similar copy. I believe my wife won it on record store day from a local radio station. Have always wondered if it was intentional or not. Pretty weird...
Jediathain
Note! If you came here to find your missing regular European sale release:The release itself is not a promo, this is the regular European version in stores. But it additionally contains an extra CD copy of the album, which is bundled for promotional (= selling) reasons. That CD – and only this CD, marked with the text PromoCD – is not the regular album CD version you can buy. For technical reasons, Discogs takes the "Promo" tag from that CD and puts it on the whole release. But it's not really a limited promo (= announcing, testing, popularizing) release as you would expect.
Qus
Thanks! What's the difference between that "promo CD" and the regular CD anyone could have bought?
Doukasa
75 copies for a test pressing? Sounds more like some kind of in-house special pressing which happens to have TP labels.
Dugor
Got my second copy, luckily it is flat, and sounds gorgeous. Fantastic pressing, much more dynamic and pleasant than the CD. Very silent background.
Pooker
Hi, just Wanna ask you if this edition is a gatefold? Thank you so much.
SupperDom
My first copy is warped like hell... Grrrrr! Waiting for a replacement
Cozius
My copy of the double LP + CD is marked as 88765461861. The album sleeve art looks like the one for the European release but the run out markings on the vinyl itself matches the US release 88765461861-SV2. Odd.
