Redirected from Domestica (Cursive album)). Domestica, also styled as Cursive's Domestica, is the third studio album by the American indie rock band Cursive, released on June 20, 2000. This album was the 31st release by Saddle Creek Records, released on CD as well as both red and black vinyl. Domestica is a concept album that tells the story of a relationship between two characters named "Sweetie" and "Pretty Baby.

Domestica is a concept album that tells the story of the relationship between Sweetie and Pretty Baby, two characters mentioned in various songs throughout the album. The album came after frontman Tim Kasher’s very personal and painful divorce, but the album is not directly correlated to the split between he and his former wife; the theme of infidelity that rings throughout the album was not prevalent in the marriage, as Kasher stated

Cursive Presents: Cursive's Domestica. Cursive formed in Omaha in 1995. They released an EP and then a few albums. Sadly in 1998 Cursive decided to break up but only a year and half later they came back with a new guitarist and with what in my opinion is their best album, Cursive’s Domestica". Domestica is the telling of a couple's relationship as it crumbles to nothing, the story carried an odd familiarity to the real life experiences of Kasher. While Domestica isn't an essential indie album it is a damn fine one. Throughout the album the bass lines and drumming are strong and give the music a powerful bottom-end.

Excepting this small item, Cursive's Domestica is the bands most mature, cohesive work to date. The announcement of a new Cursive album should have come as quite a shock to the band's fans in light of the litany of reports detailing their breakup. Instead, scarcely a year and a half later, we have Cursive's Domestica, an album which continues the profound dialogue left off at the close of The Storms of Early Summer, but steers the band in an entirely new direction: concept album territory.
