Unhalfbricking is the third album by the British folk rock band Fairport Convention and their second album released in 1969. It is seen as a transitional album in their history and marked a further musical move away from American influences towards more traditional English folk songs that had begun on their previous album, What We Did on Our Holidays and reached its peak on the follow-up, Liege & Lief, released later the same year.

FAIRPORT CONVENTION - Unhalfbricking - CD ALBUM. Fairport cking UK folk cd 2 bonus. Unhalfbricking is a step in a more folky direction and allthough I think itīs an overall better album than What We Did On Our Holidays I still miss the psychadelic approach which made the debut such an enjoyable experience.

Listen free to Fairport Convention – Unhalfbricking (Genesis Hall, Si Tu Dois Partir and more). Unhalfbricking, released in 1969, was the third album by British band Fairport Convention. It reached number 12 in the UK album charts and marked a departure from the label of "the English Jefferson Airplane". After their previous album had seen original singer Judy Dyble replaced by Sandy Denny, the group's male vocalist Iain Matthews also left, and Denny took a more central role.

On Unhalfbricking Fairport Convention take the best of folk music, and particularly of the British tradition they are proudly a part of (if not the most influential members of) and expand on the sound in a way that wouldn’t sound out of place on a Decemberists record, or something of the same ilk. A mixture of storytelling folk, British rock influences, Roots music, and a cajun-influenced zydeco style, Unhalfbricking paved the way for countless folk artists while still having a cohesive and masterful sound. The two highlights of the album come from the two songs at the most opposite ends of Fairport Convention’s musical spectrum. The first is eleven minute long epic A Salior’s Life.

Talk about Fairport Convention - Unhalfbricking

Nto
This is a wonderful classic rock album, but there are copies of this release with side B running about 10% too fast (thinner STEREO on label). Those with turntables with adjustable pitch will need to put the slider way down low to compensate for this mastering error. Be careful when shopping, inquire about the pitch/speed before you buy. Look for RL etched on BOTH sides - those copies are good.
