Chan Marshall, who records as Cat Power, considered moving away and leaving music behind when she got pregnant. Instead she started work on her new album, Wanderer. He’s taught me that I have a lot to be proud of, Ms. Marshall said, noting that in the past she was just thankful to be working, more concerned with getting from point A to point B than her legacy. It’s not pretentious that I’m an artist.
