Kinks is the self-titled debut album by English rock band The Kinks, released in 1964. It was released with three tracks omitted as You Really Got Me in the United States. The album was re-released in 1998 in the UK on Castle Records with twelve bonus tracks. This reissue was itself reissued in 2004 on the Sanctuary label.

The Second Time Around" is a song with words by Sammy Cahn and music by Jimmy Van Heusen. It was introduced in the 1960 film High Time, sung by Bing Crosby with Henry Mancini conducting his orchestra, and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song. It lost out to "Never on Sunday". Its theme is captured by its first two lines: Love is lovelier the second time around, Just as wonderful with both feet on the ground.

Second Time Around (US-only album). Dead End Street - Greatest Hits. "Long Tall Sally" did not chart in the US until January 1965, after two other Kinks singles had charted. "Ev'rybody's Gonna Be Happy" and "Who'll Be The Next In Line" were respectively the A-side and B-side of a UK/European single. This single was released several months later in North America, with the A-side and B-side reversed. "A Well Respected Man" was originally released (September 1965) in the UK on the 45rpm 7" EP Kwyet Kinks which was not eligible for the UK singles chart

Etta James's second album isn't what you pull off the shelf when you want to hear her belt some soul. Like her debut, it found Chess presenting her as more or less a pop singer, using orchestration arranged and conducted by Riley Hampton, and mostly tackling popular standards of the '40s. If you're not a purist, this approach won't bother you in the least; James sings with gusto, proving that she could more than hold her own in this idiom as well. R&B isn't entirely neglected either, with the rousing "Seven Day Fool" (co-written by Berry Gordy, J.

Numerous explanations of the name's genesis have been offered. In Jon Savage's analysis, they "needed a gimmick, some edge to get them attention. In adopting the 'Kinks' as their name at that time, they were participating in a time-honoured pop ritual-fame through outrage
