Spirit - Farther Along flac album

Farther Along was the third album that Spirit released through Mercury Records. Though Jay Ferguson was missing from the lineup, it is generally considered to be their first "reunion" album. Out of the four albums that Spirit recorded for Mercury in the mid-70s, this one is the least influenced by Randy California's time in Hawaii. However, it isn't too dissimilar from the previous two albums in that regard, though the song structures are very tight throughout.

Spirit is the debut album by rock band Spirit, first released on January 22, 1968 by Ode Records. The experimental album was commercially successful, spending more than six months on the Billboard album charts, peaking at and garnered significant airplay on FM progressive rock stations in the United States. The song "Fresh Garbage" has been sampled in the Pink song "Feel Good Time", found on the soundtrack of Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.

Farther Along is four out of five original Spirit members giving a great effort, if way too short. On first listen, "Mega Star" was the song that stuck out. It's a 70's anthem that I thought might be directed at the 5th member of Spirit that didn't join the reunion. It doesn't seem that way now that I'm more in the Spirit "know". Light rock but Spirit flavored, it became another sing along every time song. Son Of Spirit is basically Randy & Ed continuing what they started on Spirit of '76 while Farther Along is a reunion of all the original band except Jay Fergeson. Having the two as a set just makes it better.
