Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps), also known simply as Scary Monsters, is the 14th studio album by David Bowie, released on 12 September 1980 by RCA Records. It was Bowie's final studio album on the label and his first following the Berlin Trilogy of Low, "Heroes" and Lodger (1977–1979). Though considered very significant in artistic terms, the trilogy had proven less successful commercially.

Run, Run, Run. More on Genius. About Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps). Bowie compares the uncertainty of his upcoming career in the 80s to the anxiety one feels when entering a relationship. In a promo interview for the album, he stated that the song was from the perspective of the man, and his conflicted feelings about his influence on the girl. This theme of anxiety and self-doubt continues throughout Scary Monsters, making this an essential title track. It was released as the 3rd single for the album, with B-side Because You’re Young. Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)" Track Info. Written By David Bowie.

David Bowie returned to relatively conventional rock & roll with Scary Monsters, an album that effectively acts as an encapsulation of all his '70s experiments. Though it doesn't have the vision of his other classic records, it wasn't designed to break new ground - it was created as the culmination of Bowie's experimental genre-shifting of the '70s.

But he jumped into the furnace, Singing old songs we loved. ANCIANT A New Career In A New Town) This is the second instalment of our album focus on David Bowie’s Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)

Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps). Some would argue that this is the last great Bowie album, and certainly his only great album of the '80s. While it lacked the bite of its punk brethren at the time, it appealed to some fans of that genre and to middle-of-the-road rockers as well. Muscular playing met with no-frills production, and the product as a whole was infused with a gloriously arty style. It's No Game (Part I)" opens the album, and is sung in Japanese, and "It's No Game (Part II)" closes, in English.

Talk about David Bowie - Scary Monsters

Zulkishicage
A new repress is coming out on February 23 and that was remastered in 2017, and it will be on a 2 disc LP, so not sure if it will be better than the original.
Iphonedivorced
Thanks for that. This is an interesting album with Its No Game going back to the acoustic years. I loved Scary Monsters but the minute it gets to side two I loose interest. Teenage Wildlife I never liked cos when you compare side 1 to 2 they sound like 2 different albums. That's because Fripp rules on guitar with such classic as the title track. And all the other clasic guitar he plays on. Suddenly we've got Pete Townshend playing guitars along with others the others and there's less of Fripp. maybe I should give it a listen i always though two thirds of it was good. When side one has some of the best song Bowie ever did, it will be interesting to hear the working of the tracks and the left overs etc on disc two. I might just buy it now. This album was the last one of his 70 run and entering the 80's. The end of an era and the start of another one
BlackBerry
Single disc only, same as the original pressing (this one matches the one from the 2017 box). Not sure where you heard that...
Umor
For me ashes to ashes remains the most emotional, beautiful song , that bowie did in his long carrier.
Dakora
There a tons of counterfeit 're-issues' allegedly Made in Portugal currently flooding the market these days. Easy to spot because the cover has some serious printing issues - most notably on the back side where the green is just way off (original is also green but much less saturated).
Drelajurus
Should someone change the title of it to "Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)"?
Cordanius
Although the album is commonly referred to as 'Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)', in keeping with the song title, and the album title as written on the front and back covers of the LP is 'Scary Monsters . . . . . and Super Creeps', the album is identified simply as 'Scary Monsters' on the LP spine and disc label.
Zonama
No. "Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)" is the title of the song. The album is called "Scary Monsters".
